SPE SA Science Alive! Booth Preview

SPE SA Science Alive! Booth Preview

Posted on: 07/08/2015

Booth planning for Science Alive! (7-9 August, Adelaide Showground) is finally reaching a climax.  It appears the logistics for this complex event is finally coming together!

The SPE South Australian Section Committee is pleased to offer a preview on what has been planned for the engineering side (at the time of writing).  The Committee also takes the opportunity to thank the local companies and organisations for their enthusiasm and support.

Elham Samari and his team from Condor Energy are running a proppant display and frac fluid activity, providing the chance for students to mix their own frac fluid!

Doug Edmondson from Owen Oil Tools are providing a variety of cut out perforation gun models, with charges (not live) and wiring all connected and visible…

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) through Alex Benson are displaying a variety of drill bit models including cross sections showing materials and construction...

The South Australian Department of State Development (DSD) through Dominic Pepicelli are lending drill bits, sand filters and a frac plug assembly…

James Tauchnitz from Petro-King are providing a variety of downhole tools including wire wrapped screens and slotted liners…

Paul Bon of Petrolab are bringing along different fluid samples to demonstrate fluid viscosities at different temperatures…

The team at Australian School of Petroleum, University of Adelaide are providing a ‘Darcy Experiment’ to visually illustrate how Darcy’s Law works.

Benn Cox from local company Stealth Tools are lending mini PDC drill bit models as well as other replica models.

Finally, numerous teams from Santos Ltd. are providing a mixture of working models and downhole equipment.   Think a real life sucker rod insert pump cut out, a working miniature electric beam pump model, a composite bridge plug and other artificial lift equipment, just to name a few!

Tickets are still available online with free entry for those under 18 years of age.  For event details: http://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/science-alive-2015-tickets-17478609993

Don’t forget, SPE will be at the ‘Discover the Science of Oil & Gas’ booth, being shared with PESA and ASEG.  Bring your kids and come see us!
