October Joint SPE/PESA Technical Meeting Wrap

October Joint SPE/PESA Technical Meeting Wrap

Posted on: 03/11/2015

By Bonnie Lodwick (Santos), YPP/PESA Representative

In October, the South Australian Branches/Sections of PESA and SPE joined forces to host Chevron Australia’s General Manager of Asset Development, Gerry Flaherty.

Geoscientists and engineers gathered together to hear Flaherty’s presentation on ‘Delivering Growth through Exploration, Development and Innovation’. The two course luncheon, followed by freshly brewed tea and coffee, was held in the stunning Conservatory Room at Ayers House in Adelaide’s CBD.

Flaherty discussed winners of the future investing in seismic, the importance of retaining true amplitudes, using integrated analysis methods and making the technical understandable with credibility. Looking forward, Flaherty makes particular mention of real time reservoir monitoring and improved production forecasts.

The talk was engaging, well delivered, and prompted several interesting questions from the floor.  Overall, a very successful event, who knew geoscientists and engineers could work so well together!

A special thanks to SGS for their generous sponsorship of the meeting, as well as to Gerry for taking the time to travel to Adelaide exclusively for this presentation.
