Students
The SPE Student section consists of over 230 chapters worldwide and 97,000 student members. Student membership provides opportunities to network with industry professionals at society events and receive mentoring and practical career advice. Students are also entitled to discounts on textbooks, SPE publications and can apply for numerous Scholarships available from Australian and International SPE Sections.
The University of Adelaide Student Chapter has over 140 student members across a variety of programs including Petroleum Engineering and Geoscience. The objectives of the student chapter include to:
- Develop a link between students and the oil and gas industry
- Assist and provide support to students throughout their studies through mentoring programs and social events with staff, students and industry
- Enhance student opportunities for learning whilst completing their degrees through access to technical presentations, conference exhibitions and networking events
- Help prepare students to apply for and undertake a career in the oil and gas industry, including job application notifications, CV writing workshops, interview and assessment centre preparation
Typical events in the annual SPE Student Chapter calendar include technical talks by industry professionals, term BBQ and cross-discipline social events, mentoring and guidance to first year students and the Annual Petroleum vs. Chemical Engineering soccer match.
